Founded in 1976 by Shri M. J. Gupta, an expert in plastic injection molding, Uma Plastoware is an ISO 9001:2015-certified company recognized for its commitment to durability and quality in plastic production. With over 45 years of experience, we cater to a wide array of plastic needs across engineering, household, and commercial sectors. Our capabilities extend to molding various engineering plastics, such as Polycarbonate, ABS, Nylon, Polystyrene, Acrylic, Xylene, and Acetal co-polymer, leveraging advanced technology and skilled expertise. The Beginning


UMA Plastic Industries was founded by Shri Mahenderprasad Gupta, a retired engineer from the Indian Army, in Chinchwad, Pune. With a small loan of ₹8,000 from relatives, Shri Gupta set out to create a company that would provide high-quality plastic products for various industrial applications and packaging. His strong engineering background and determination were the cornerstones of this new venture.

1974

Registration & Initial Growth


In 1975, UMA Plastic Industries was officially registered, marking the start of its journey into manufacturing plastic bags and sheets. These products were aimed at fulfilling the growing demand for industrial packaging solutions. The company's early focus was on quality and innovation, which soon became its trademark.

Partnership with EXIDE Industries


In the early 1980s, Shri Gupta recognized the growing automotive demand and partnered with EXIDE Industries (formerly Chloride Industries). This strategic collaboration enabled UMA Plastic Industries to supply battery components, marking its entry into injection moulding—a major growth milestone. The move expanded their product range, boosted manufacturing capabilities, and set the foundation for future advancements in complex plastic parts.

1980-81

Expanding Reach to Major Brands


By 1985, UMA Plastic Industries had earned a reputation for excellent production quality and service. The company began supplying materials to major players in the automotive and engineering sectors, including well-known brands like LUMAX, BAJAJ, KINETIC ENGINEERING, and VERROC. These partnerships helped solidify the company's position in the market and opened doors to further growth.

1985

Diversification into Household Products


In 1997, a severe recession in the automotive industry prompted Shri Mahenderprasad Gupta to reconsider the company’s dependence on a single sector. Recognizing the importance of diversification, he expanded UMA’s focus into the household goods market. This vision resulted in the establishment of UMA Plastoware Pvt. Ltd., a dedicated entity for manufacturing household plastic products.

Launch of Household Products


In 1999, UMA Plastoware launched its household line with just two molds—a 25-liter bucket and a large drum. These straightforward, practical items marked the company's entry into consumer goods, meeting the growing demand for durable and affordable household solutions.

The Next Generation Leads Forward


In 2001, the company took a significant step forward under the leadership of Pavan Gupta, the son of Shri Mahenderprasad Gupta. Pavan, along with his wife Yogita Gupta, assumed control of UMA Plastoware Pvt. Ltd., and the company began to focus exclusively on expanding its range of household products. Under their leadership, the brand "PAVAN" was registered, a name that would soon become synonymous with quality plasticware in India.

Focused Growth and Product Innovation


From 2004 to 2006, Pavan Gupta and his team dedicated themselves to understanding customer needs and market trends. During this time, they developed a well-rounded product portfolio that addressed the changing demands of consumers. Their hard work resulted in an expanded range of household products known for their practicality, innovation, and high quality.
